Blue Print Rally Day Six - Granada to Faro (290 miles)
Granada was amazing! Fantastic hotel - huge rooms, brilliant food and free internet which ticks all the boxes for me! To be honest a lot of teams were sorry to leave but, like the show, the rally must go on.
Leaving on mass in a 11 car stack we hit the motorway with the sat-nav predicting just under 4 hours to get to the destination - Faro in Portugal. New joiners to the convoy were the PMF Dazed and Confused Team of Tim Corlett and Craig Tabinor, the FPS Lost Boys and The Animals team of John and Shaun.
Interestingly Dave and Gary from the Lost Boys are trying to do this trip without the aid of sat-nav which would terrify me - but loving the old school road trip vibe fellas.
Celebrating his 36th birthday with us on the Rally is Giles from the Just Japanese Honda Prelude. Happy birthday - i'm sure you won't be short of drinks offers tonight!
After the excitement of being pulled by the Spanish police yesterday it was great to get into Portugal with friendly waves from pedestrians and other road users. The lorry drivers here were especially friendly.
The Hotel in Faro is right on the marina and some of the teams have great views of the harbour and boats. I exclude myself from this as I have a lovely view of the car park - hey it's not all glamour when you work the Blue Print Rally!
I need to try to find Rob Wilkinson to get the ADL video camera back from him - we were so interested to see where he gets to every day that we lent him a camera. It wont make the internet video tonight but should be good for the DVD!
It's sad to think tomorrow is the last day and that some of these cars are doomed to a life in the sun in a Lisbon scrap yard. As long as Elvis survives tomorrow he won't be joining them as he's going home!
The teams are planning on hitting a local water park tomorrow before the short(ish) run to Lisbon so if you're in the area we'll be the drowned rats on the highway! Look out for standing water!
