After negotiating the busy cramped streets of Valencia the Blue Print Rally surged on to the motorway heading for Granada. This was to be the longest stint of the rally at 340 miles and for some of the team cars the previous 1100 miles were starting to show in the vehicles. From Ben and Giles in the Just Japanese Prelude with a cracked front down pipe to M.A.D Colts also with exhaust issues.
Around 1 hour into the journey the whole convoy of around 10 cars were pulled over by the police. Nothing serious just wondering what we were up to and checking everything was street legal. All the drivers and cars checked out fine and we were soon back on our way - even receiving waves and smiles from some of the traffic police. During the hold up Mean Mazda, The Legends and The Dream Team slipped by giving us a helpful parp on the horn - thanks for the help and support guys!
Now broken up in to two groups with the Kia Pride guys staying off the main road - the usual suspects stacked up the miles through the baking hot desert. I really felt for the guys in non-air conditioned vehicles particularly Robert Bell from the FPS Starter and Clutch Team - who for some reason was alternating between wearing a shower cap and his now trade mark spooky mask? At a rest stop at the halfway point I capitalised on there team name to get the photo you see above. (Although Rob pointed out that the FPS boys look more "Charlie's Angels" than "Starsky and Hutch!" in this pose)
The scenery on the route was amazing - especially through the winding mountain passes. I hope you get an idea of just what a huge run this was from the video.
Speaking of video - I wanted to try something different today and gave a camera to the Nissan 300ZX boys. I'm just watching the footage back now and might be slightly regretting it! Sports suspension and a shaky handed Anthony don't really mix! See what you think on the video.
Amazingly we also caught a rare glimpse of Amanda and Stuart Ducker on the run today. The MX5 City husband and wife team always seems to slip by unnoticed. I didn't see a cloaking device in your list of mods guys.
The ever elusive Sunny Factor 2 team also managed to avoid the camera again today. I am fast running out of time to get some celluloid of Sally and Rob Wilkinson. Are you shy or something?
Other "Stealth" teams include - 2Fat2Flatulent(ADL), Team Farncombe Service Station in the rocket powered Mazda 121 and the PCS Dumb and Dumber Team. We're not sure if it's stage fright or just eagerness to get the best parking spaces.
The Rally is more than half way complete and the teams have now completed at least 1435 miles (Not including Kia Prides and getting lost - which are normally the same thing!)
Last night in Spain - tomorrow we finally roll into Portugal - the end is in slight!
